Human rights organizations from all over the world have addressed the Polish and German Foreign Ministers Radoslaw Sikorski and Guido Westerwelle. They are asking the diplomats to add the issue of political prisoners on the agenda during their contacts with the Belarusian authorities. Human rights activists are asking to pay attention to the problem of criminal prosecution of independent journalists, abolishment of the capital punishment and conducting free and fair presidential elections.
A Lithuanian organization Belarus Watch, German – Libereco – Partnership for Human Rights, the Belarusian House of Human Rights in exile in Vilnius, a Czech organization "Civil Belarus" and the Norwegian Human Rights House Foundation have joined the appeal.
Let us remind you that the Foreign Ministers of Poland and Germany will pay an official visit to Minsk today.
