Another action of solidarity with Belarusian political prisoners will be held at 19:00 on October 24 at Kastrychnitskaya Square in Minsk.
The organizers of the action are activists of the civil campaign "European Belarus", whose leader Andrey Sannikov is convicted of "organization of mass disorder" and is in prison.
"There is no one to look around, no one to wait - no one, but we will achieve the release of nation's leaders from prison. And in this way, step by step, we can achieve all our goals. The main thing is not be afraid to go forward and not to stop", said in his message, the coordinator of the "European Belarus" Maxim Vinyarski.
The previous action of solidarity was held on October 21 at Kastrychnitskaya Square. From early morning in Minsk the campaign activists were detained by security forces in plain clothes. The action was attended by about twenty people, including the mothers of Irina Khalip and Andrei Sannikov.
One of the activists, who shouted slogans via megaphone, and two others were detained. The remaining participants didn't shout slogans, didn't hold portraits of political prisoners or any symbols, and talked to each other and journalists. At the request of policemen they dispersed. Two arrested had appeared before the court today and were sentenced to 5 and 7 days of administrative arrest.
We remind, currently the political prisoners are ex-presidential candidates Andrey Sannikov and Mikalay Statkevich, entrepreneur Mikalay Autukhovich, human rights activist Ales Belyatski, activists Pavel Sevyarynets, Dmitry Bondarenko, Eduard Lobov, Dmitry Dashkevich, anarchists Igor Olinevich, Evgeny Vaskovich and Mikalay Dedok.
