Any requests for funding for foreign projects, for instance, Belarusian ones, face problems.
"I suggested that the million euro that the European Union received as the Nobel Peace Prize, it would give to the development of civil society in Belarus. But they, naturally, did not approve of that", - a Polish Member of the European Parliament Marek Migalski told in an interview to the Belsat TV channel.
According to hi, Belarus is Zimbabwe, for Germany and France – the main European Union’s players. "Moreover, Germans as well as the French like to have deals with Russians. That is why the Belarusian issue is, at least, inconvenient for them", - he says. The MEP sees a problem in Polish politicians as well, although the western neighbor traditionally represents the interests of Belarus. Migalski thinks that they are not able to really get the European Union interested in the Belarusian topic.
Marek Migalski is called a god father of the political prisoners Dzmitry Bandarenka and Siargei Kavalenka: they were released to a large extent due to his efforts. Now the MEP has as his goal to liberate Dzmitry Dashkevich and Mikalai Statkevich. He created the web-site www.2free.eu for that in the Belarusian, English, Polish and Russian languages.
"I am trying to liberate two specific people. It does not mean that I am not interested in the other political prisoners. They must all be released, and that should be the main condition of any dialogue with Lukashenka", - Marek Migalski explains.
