The National Statistic Committee has estimated for how much cash earnings of the population of Belarus decreased in H1 2016.

For January-June 2016 they fell by 7% when compared with the same period last year. In 2016-2020, the earnings growth will hardly be rapid , independent experts say.

According to Katsiaryna Barnukova, a representative of the Belarusian Research and Education Centre (BEROC), one can count on a very modest income growth if no economic reforms are introduced. And even if they are, we will not see their effect immediately – that is why we should not expect any significant growth of incomes in the coming five years, the expert states.

In 2016- 2020, the economy of Belarus will be developing only slightly, Alyaksandr Chubryk, Director of IPM Research Center, believes. “The state has no resources to rapidly increase the people’s incomes,” he notes.

At the same time, the Ministry of Economy expected Belarusians’ cash earnings in H1 2016 to be at the same level as in 2015..
