Real Incomes In Belarus Drop 7% In January-August

In January-August 2016, real incomes of the population in Belarus decreased by 7.1% compared with the same period last year.

The numbers were reported by the National Statistics Committee.

The fall of the real disposable incomes has been observed since the beginning of the year. In 2015 real disposable incomes of Belarusians decreased by 5.9%.

Meanwhile, the government expects real incomes to rise by 0.5% as compared with the previous year.

Real income refers to the income of an individual or household after taking into consideration the effects of inflation on purchasing power. Also called real wages, real income refers to the amount of goods and services you can buy today compared to the price of the same goods and services you could have purchased in another time period.
