The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus does not expect any sharp changes in the exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble, Chairman of the Board of Belarus’ National Bank Pavel Kalaur told media after the opening of 13th international forum of banking information technology BankIT’2016 on Wednesday.

“This is the current market rate. There are no tendencies that can negatively influence the country’s balance of payment in the future. We do not expect any shocks until the end of the year that could possibly affect the exchange rate of the Belarusian ruble,” Kalaur said.

According to him, the scenario approach to forecasting allows taking into account any possible risks and consequences:

“When we forecast different processes within a year, we also take into account the gas talks with Russia and the negotiating process with international organizations. That means that the forecast we have made until the end of 2016 and for 2017 contain the risks that may emerge.”

The top official also expressed confidence that the inflation would stay within the forecast of 12% by the end of the year.
