Minsk hotels keep reducing rates, Yury Natychko, the head of the department for consumer and hotel services at the Minsk City Hall, told reporters on Wednesday.

“Hotels apply a flexible pricing policy. They drastically reduce rates on certain dates, offer honeymoon packages, events and corporate programs and big discounts on Christmas holidays”, the official said.

According to him, many hotels had over 80% of rooms booked during New Year holidays last year.

The prices for hotel services are going down. For example, in 2015 travelers would spend on average $48.3 per night, in H1 of this year – $47.6, while in January-September only $41.5.

So, compared with the same period last year, accomodations became cheaper by 14%.

“One can find lodging even for $20 per night”, Yury Natychko noted.

In Minsk there are 48 hotel complexes and 5 hostels. Their capacity is 5,600 rooms, or 16,200 beds. A number of new hotels were opened in 2014 before the IIHF World Hockey Сhampionship.
