In 2016 the index of consumer prices for goods and services totaled 111.8% as against 2015, the National Statistics Committee told the media. The projected inflation rate for 2016 was 12%.
In 2016 food prices rose by 10.4% in comparison with 2015. Non-food prices went up by 9.4% while prices for services rose by 19.7%.
In December 2016 consumer prices for goods and services rose by 0.5% as against November 2016 and 10.6% as against December 2015.
At the same time in December deflation was observed with the prices of non-food products (-0.6%). However, they went up by a of total 6.8% in 2016.
In 2015 inflation in Belarus amounted to 12%, and in 2014 the figure was at 16.2%. This year, as predicted, the prices are expected to rise by no more than 9%.
