Poland will not buy energy from the Belarusian NPP that is being built in Astravets District, Foreign Minister Witold Waszczykowski told RIA Novosti.

“We will not change our opinion about purchasing energy from this nuclear power plant,” the Polish Minister said. “I believe that unsafe technologies are used there and the lack of safety resulted in the Chernobyl Disaster. That is why we are against this NPP and are not going to cooperate and buy energy produced there.”

Even positive feedback of the IAEA would not affect Warsaw’s position, Waszczykowski stressed. Lithuania is not going to buy Astravets NPP energy either, the Lithuanian authorities announced earlier.

The first power unit of etheth nuclear power plant will be launched in 2019 and the second one – in 2020.
