Russian PM: Earthquake during EEU meeting is ‘sign from God’ for Belarus
A small earthquake of magnitude 3.7 that happened in Almaty is a ‘sign from God’ for Belarus, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev believes.

The earthquake took place after the meeting of the intergovernmental commission of the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU). At that moment, the participants were discussing Minsk’s measures to protect its market.

“Dear colleagues, we have signed all the documents. Our meeting, which has been running in a warm atmosphere, was accompanied by a small earthquake. As my colleagues justly noted, the earthquake occurred at the moment of considering Resolution Nr 666 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Belarus. This is a lesson or all of us, and for the Republic of Belarus this is a sign from God,” RIA Novosti quotes him.

The case was the resolution which imposed restrictions on cross-border movement of goods, he specified.

“This resolution introduces certain restrictions. My Belarusian counterpart has convincingly explained why these decisions were taken, i.e. to prevent all sorts of crap from entering the market, which is a proper step, but on the other hand, this is a restriction measure,” Russia’s Prime Minister stressed.

According to Medvedev, members of the EEU should find a balance between protecting their own markets and creating a common market.
