Expert: Assigning Ermakova as the chairman of the National Bank is the wrong decision

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko by the decree of July 27, assigned the head of "Belarusbank" Nadezhda Ermakova as the chairman of the National Bank of Belarus.

Ex-chairman of the National Bank Stanislav Bogdankevich in an interview to the news portal www.UDF.BY called this assignment " the wrong decision".

- Nadezhda Ermakova is a decent person, she makes a pleasant impression. But as the chairman of the emission center of the country, in my opinion, should be a person who could hold his own line, based on the knowledge of theory and practice. With regard to practice, then I think she knows. But as for macroeconomic theory, any her works in this area - I do not know. Therefore I think this assignment is the continuation of the policy of Alexander Lukashenko to assign on the responsible positions those who are personally owe him their careers, their position, the personally loyal people, - said Stanislav Bogdankevich. -It means that the National Bank will not deal with establishment of order in the consumer market in terms of prices. Objective number 1 of any central bank is to ensure the stability of the prices in the country. Objective number 2 - is the stability of the national currency. Objective number 3 - is the stability of the banking system. The first objective should perform the person, who is able to say: "No!" No populism of incomes; no to printing press with the purpose to ensure the high rates of GDP growth. All of this lacked in recent years to Pyotr Pertovich Prokopovich (the previous chairman of the National Bank - www.UDF.BY).

According to the expert, "the best choice, including that for Lukashenko," would be the former First Deputy Chairman of the National Bank Pavel Kallaur, who defended his thesis in macroeconomics, monetary policy.

- Theoretically he is quite prepared. Another thing is that in an authoritarian system it is hard to anybody, but with his knowledge and experience, he in the position of chairman of the National Bank would at least look logical - Stanislav Bogdankevich thinks.
