Mutual transfer: pleasant Minsk pieces go to Russia

Вelsat

Belarusian MPs have ratified the agreement on exchange of lands with Russia.

The House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus passed draft law on transferring lands in Independence Avenue, Bangalor Square in Minsk and near the Minsk Sea to Russia for 49 years, news agency BelTA has learnt.

In its turn, the Belarusian side receives lands near Sochi for the construction of facilities for the Olympic delegation from Belarus in 2014. Belarus has got lands in the town of Maykop and the city of Sochi in Krasnodar Krai for 49 years (the sites are under development, a hotel and other facilities have been already built there).

It is interesting that opposition demostrations are usually held in Bangalor Square because the authorities never sanction protest actions and marches in the centre of the city. Thus, Belarusian oppositionists are likely to express their dissent from the regime’s policy not far from "a Russian piece of land" in Minsk.
