Belarusian economic entities' net losses reported up 70 percent year-on-year in first five months of 2013


The net losses of economic entities in all sectors of the Belarusian economy in the first five months of 2013 totaled 3.3 trillion rubels (some $383 million).

It is 70 percent more than in the same period the previous year, reported the National Statistical Committee (Belstat).

As many as 854 economic entities, or 10.3 percent of the total number, operated at a loss in January-May 2013 compared with 406 entities, or 4.8 percent, in 2012, according to Belstat.

The production costs of goods and services increased by 11.4 percent year-on-year to total 403 trillion rubels, while net profits from sales fell by 35 percent to total 22.6 trillion, Belstat said.

The profitability of sales was nine percent, down from 9.7 percent in 2012 and 10.6 percent in 2011.
