Belarus bans pork imports from Poland

Belarus has imposed a temporary ban on imports of pork from Poland where cases of swine flu have been recorded, said the press office of the Belarusian agriculture ministry.

On May 7, the Belarusian agriculture ministry cancelled licenses that it issued earlier for the imports.
The ban applies to live swine, pork and pork products unless they have been processed at a temperature of 80 degrees Celsius. The virus is vulnerable to the high temperature, the press office said.

Earlier, the Belarusian authorities imposed a ban on meat imports from Austria, Britain, Canada, Costa Rica, Denmark, France, Germany, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Mexico, the Netherlands and Spain and the United States amid the spread of the virus.
