Deputy Prime Minister Anatol Tozik has urged Chinese telecommunications equipment giant Huawei to carry out large-scale projects in Belarus.

Speaking at a meeting with representatives of Huawei`s Belarus office, Mr. Tozik said that the scale of the company`s operations in the country was too low.

Zhang Dongliang, head of the office, confirmed that Huawei was interested to receive contracts to introduce an intelligent transportation system and its Safe City Solution in Minsk. The company has already carried out similar projects both in China and other countries, including in Tajikistan and Moldova, he said.

In addition, he said, Huawei is looking for a reliable Belarusian partner for expanding its operations in the country, including the establishment of a joint research and development center and manufacturing facilities.

Huawei also considers registering a subsidiary company in the Chinese-Belarusian Industrial Park, said Mr. Zhang.
