The front page of the newspaper Republic. The photo shows a Cambodian child at a dump and happy kids from a Minsk kindergarten. The huge title says: “Time to choose!”

We asked Republic what is was necessary to choose and what Cambodia had to do with it.

Republic: You have been let down by figurativeness. You do not have to choose Cambodia. You choose the images.

Euroradio: What is in the picture?

Republic: You should be able to see something. If you don’t, it will be difficult to explain. Let’s not waste time.

Euroradio: I still do not get it. Our beggars also go to dumps, so what?

Republic: They do. But nobody searches for food at our dumps!

Euroradio: Did you publish it because of the election?

Republic: It is time to choose. We have had the column for two weeks.

We looked for the picture of the hungry Cambodian boy. The author is Athit Perawongmetha from Reuters. "The boy’s name is Sev, he is 13 years old. He collects empty beer cans to make 25 cents a day,” the author said.

Republic, Cambodian boy Sev is not searching for food at the dump!

Let’s look at the previous front page of the newspaper. The picture shows a woman with a child near a destroyed building. The inscription says that it is Mariinka, Ukraine. The second photo shows three girls in Freedom Square in Minsk. The first photo shows a sad scene, the other one shows happiness.

However, the picture was taken in Donetsk.

Euroradio will keep monitoring Republic’s front page in case the newspaper offers some other ‘interesting’ comparisons dated for the presidential election.
