Lukashenka: We will implement IMF suggestions no matter what it takes

Belarus will not give any unrealistic promises to western partners, Alyaksandr Lukashenka claimed when listening to the Foreign Minister’s report on Monday.

Our country is always honest in the international arena and fulfills its promises no matter how difficult it may be, the state leader said. Lukashenka mentioned the International Monetary Fund. The Belarusian authorities are hoping to get a $3bn credit from this organization. “If the money is spent to support Belarus, we will be grateful. If it does not, may it be so… But we need to conduct negotiations taking our position and promises into account,” Alyaksandr Lukashenka noted without enthusiasm.

The IMF never makes unclear and unnecessary suggestions, the Belarusian President noted again. “We will realize their suggestions no matter how difficult it may be,” BELTA quotes Lukashenka.

Russia will support the Belarusian economy, Lukashenka announced earlier. He did not say whether it would be a credit or some other means of assistance, Euroradio reported.
