The action initiated by ex-political prisoner Zmitser Dashkevich started in Independence Square in Minsk at 8.30 a.m. The Independence Day used to be marked on July 27 (the day when the Independence Declaration of the Republic of Belarus was adopted) in the 1990s. Dashkevich urged people to come to the square with national white-red-white flags.

10-12 people took part in the action. Two police captains approached them a few minutes later and started making administrative violation reports.

The number of action participants gradually increased to two dozen people. Flags could be seen between Independence Square and the cinema house Centralny. Well-known activists including Yauhen Anafel, Pavel Vinahradau, Nina Bahinskaya and others took part in the action.

The action took about 50 minutes: the activists started leaving at about 9.20 a.m. The policemen made reports against all the action participants but did not detain anyone.
