Sviatlana Alexievich has paid 197 thousand euros from her Nobel Prize award to Belarusian state, reports Belsat TV. The award amounted to over 950 thousand dollars. It was initially expected the Belarusian writer would be exempt from the 13% income tax, However, she eventually had to pay.

"Nowhere in the world they do like this. They do not tax the Nobel Prize. I paid 197 thousand euros," said Alexievich.

After receiving the 2015 Nobel Litarature Prize, Svetlana Alexievich bought a cotttage in Silicy and a three-room apartment in central Minsk. On several occasions, she donated money for charitable projects.
