Alyaksandr Lukashenka has dismissed Vital Vowk and Anatol Chorny from their positions as industry and construction ministers, respectively.

Mr. Lukashenka fired the two officials on Tuesday for failing to fulfill his decisions concerning the development of the Orsha district, Vitsyebsk region.

The Belarusian leader stayed in the district on August 13 and 14.

Mr. Lukashenka also gave the order to find a replacement for Alyaksandr Paznyak, head of the Orsha District Executive Committee, and severely reprimanded Mikalay Sharstnyow, head of the Vitsyebsk Regional Executive Committee.

“He [Anatol Chorny] was sitting doing nothing and did not fulfill the president’s order to repair a roof,” Mr. Lukashenka said angrily. “Who had the right to cancel my decisions?... All the efforts should have been directed here to show that there is a president in the country and he runs the country… And you sabotaged [my decisions.]”

Mr. Lukashenka also reproached Aleh Dvihalyow, head of the State Defense Industry Committee, and Stanislaw Zas, state secretary of the Security Council of Belarus, and threatened to fire them if they did not fulfill his decisions by fall.

Mr. Chorny was appointed construction minister on October 15, 2013. Mr. Vowk was appointed industry minister on December 27, 2014.
