Lukashenka: Belarus to experience ‘political turmoil’ for at least year and half

During the appointment of certain officials on November 13, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that Belarus should soon expect “political turmoil” and it would last “at least a year and a half”, and the election campaigns “never added stability to the society”.
Addressing the newly appointed “local leaders,” Lukashenka said that “a political campaign is an exam,” and there will be two such examinations to pass at once.
According to Lukashenka, they will have to “report to the people,” and “our people know how to ask.”
In his speech, he once again emphasized the intention to fight corruption.
He also demanded that the newly appointed officials take their own initiative.
“The only thing I will ask of you is that you, while at work, do not bury yourselves in papers. You are the leaders, and you can’t be looking into your boss’ mouth.”
On November 13, Lukashenka made a number of personnel changes. Among others, new deputy ministers of culture, economics, finance and energy were appointed.

“To fight with corruption is my unshakable demand, I have been doing it since the first day of my presidency. Not because I want to seem so cool. That’s not the idea. Corruption eats up everything. It is rust,” Lukashenka said.
