Lukashenka: We are thinking how to limit internet without sanctions

Alyaksandr Lukashenka would like to limit the Internet in Belarus but does not want sanctions to be imposed on the country. The state leader announced his position at the International Conference on Counter-Terrorism in Minsk.

Every state can decide how to regulate the Internet, Lukashenka said. Belarus has its own understanding of permissible moral and legal limits of the Internet freedom.

"I am freely speaking about this issue because I know that nobody can reproach me with restricting the Internet in Belarus in any way. However, we probably should have limited it. We do not know how to do it so that the civilized society would not impose sanctions on us in response. That is why we are not doing it. There is no hurry,” the Belarusian President admitted.

The position of the Belarusian authorities is reflected in the recently adopted National Security Concept, he added.
