As many as 130,824 coronavirus tests have been carried out in the country so far, 8,281 tests over the past day. Over 30 laboratories in all regions work round the clock.

In terms of the number of tests for COVID-19 performed per million people, Belarus is ahead of Poland, South Korea, the Netherlands, Ukraine and almost at the level of the developed European countries and the U.S.

The Deputy Minister of Health gave an example: with a population of almost 38 million in Poland, about 250 thousand tests were performed, which is 6,6 per million of the population. In Belarus, with a population of 9,5 million, more than 130 tests or 13,7 per million people.

Elena Bogdan reported that 25 recovered patients donated the immune plasma, and eight patients already received plasma transfusion.

Experts note that they mostly register not imported cases, that is the virus is transmitted from person to person within the country. The peak incidence is expected in late April-early May. The country’s chief sanitary doctor believes that the incidence should decrease in the next three to four weeks.

On April 20, after three weeks of vacation in Belarus, children returned to school. A clean-up day will be held on 25 April. Earlier, President Alexander Lukashenko said that he sees no reason to postpone or cancel the cleanup.

Recall the WHO mission that visited Belarus this month recommended to cancel large gatherings, sports, religious and cultural events; create an opportunity for distance learning and remote work, among other measures.

The Healthcare Ministry urges people to stay home and do not visit other regions, crowded places, cemeteries for a long weekend. The Orthodox Church also called on the believers to stay at home and not to visit churches on holidays, and cemeteries on Radunitsa.
