Lukashenka Declared Persona Non Grata in Krakow

Euroradio

Krakow City Council on March 3 passed a resolution, declaring Alyaksandr Lukashenka persona non grata in Poland's former capital city. The resolution was endorsed by the majority of the council members but not all of them.

The Polish news agency РАР reports that the members of the council also appealed to the European Parliament asking to take all possible efficient measures in order to defend the rights of the Polish ethnic minority in Belarus.

The resolution says that Lukashenka will remain persona non grata in Krakow until the violation of democratic and European standards in Belarus does not stop.

On March 9 a Belarus-Poland commission is expected to begin working in order to sort out the conflict between the Belarusian authorities and the unofficial Union of Poles in Belarus.
