Customs Union Code to Take Effect on 6 July 2010

The single customs territory of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan will take effect on 6 July 2010, First Vice-Premier of Russia Igor Shuvalov told media in Astana on 5 July.

"The single customs territory of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan will come into force on 6 July 2010. The Customs Union Code, all the relevant documents and signed international agreements will be applied within the single customs territory," Igor Shuvalov said.

In his words, today the heads of Customs Union member-states decided that the governments of the three countries need to develop all the necessary agreements on the single economic space by 1 January 2011.

"At first we agreed to work out only the first 14 agreements by this date. But today we have decided to prompt this work and prepare the whole package of documents on single economic space by 1 January 2011," Igor Shuvalov said.
