In response to another rise in fuel prices motorists will hold in the evening of August 22 an action "Stop petrol". They intend to spontaneously gather on different streets, adjacent to Nezavisimosti and Pobediteley Avenues in Minsk, and then to go to the city center in order to block the traffic there.

Concern Belneftekhim on August 20 raised retail prices for motor fuel by 3% on average. This is the sixth rise in prices since the beginning of the year.

As the leader of the informational and educational institution Za Avto Artem Sharkov told to the Internet newspaper Salidarnast, he heard about the impending action from motorists.

- It is known that the event will be held in the 7th of June format. I can not suggest whether it would become popular in spite of the summer season, - the activist said, stressing that the movement Za Auto is not an organizer of the action.

In connection with the upcoming action Minsk police made the statement, which noted that such calls and in particular actions are illegal.

- Organization and participation therein can result in both administrative and criminal liability, - says the statement.

In accordance with the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Belarus, the participants of the actions are to threaten significant fines or administrative arrest.
