Open Skies observers to fly over Russia, Belarus

U.S. and British inspectors will fly above Russia and Belarus aboard a SAAB OS-100 observation jet under the Open Skies Treaty, the Russian Defense Ministry told Interfax-AVN.

"A group of British and U.S. specialists will perform a joint observation flight above the territories of Open Skies Treaty member states, Russia and Belarus, aboard a SAAB OS-100 aircraft on August 6-10," the ministry said.

Russian specialists will be monitoring the use of observation equipment and systems all through the flight under the Treaty obligations, it said.

The SAAB OS-100 and its observation gadgets have undergone international certification with the participation of Russian inspectors.
