Paznyak accuses Lukashenka of complicity in Russia’s aggression against Ukraine

Alyaksandr Lukashenka is an accomplice to Russia’s act of aggression against Ukraine, Zyanon Paznyak, the emigre chairman of the Conservative Christian Party, said in New York on Sunday, speaking during a meeting of expatriate Belarusians.

According to the press office of the Batskawshchyna World Association of Belarusians, the meeting took place at the Belarusian Autocephalous Orthodox Church`s St. Cyril of Turaw Cathedral in Brooklyn.

“Russia de facto controls everything in Belarus,” said Mr. Paznyak, who chairs the Minsk-registered Conservative Christian Party. “Putin deployed 24 planes at the strategic airfield in Babruysk even without asking Lukashenka. Just a few days ago, people in military uniforms without insignia were noticed in Minsk. All this is evidence of preparations for a military invasion of Ukraine from Belarus. It is known to Ukrainians and said by many experts that preparations are under way for a strike against Kyiv from our country.”

Just like Nazi Germany, Russia has come up with a number of excuses to justify military aggression, Mr. Paznyak said. Adolph Hitler’s propagandists argued that the Germans needed more living space, while Russia insists that it has the right to interfere “wherever people speak Russian,” he said. Mr. Putin’s brainwashing is 100 times worse that the propaganda by Joseph Goebbels, he noted.

Mr. Paznyak accused Russia of aiming to destroy Ukraine as a state. “And if he succeeds, as Hitler did in Czechoslovakia and Austria, he will go further,” he warned. “Belarus will be wiped off the world map next, then Moldova, Poland, Finland, the Baltic countries and so on. That is why the worst thing for us today is the drawing of Belarus into a war against Ukraine.”
