Belarus, EC to discuss visa liberalization

Belarus and the European Commission (EC) will discuss visa liberalization in Minsk, Deputy Foreign Minister of Belarus Yelena Kupchina who led the Belarusian delegation at the meeting of the foreign ministers of the Visegrad and Eastern Partnership member states in Budapest on 28-29 April told the Belarus 1 TV Channel, BelTA learned.

According to Yelena Kupchina, “all the participants of the meeting hailed the readiness of the Belarusian authorities to continue talks on concluding an agreement between Belarus and the European Union on the liberalization of the visa regime and readmission.” “We expect EC representatives to arrive in Minsk in May to discuss the issue,” the Belarusian official said.

In her words, the main issue voiced by Belarus at the meeting in Budapest was “equal non-discriminatory participation of the Eastern Partnership member states in all parts of the program.” “We insist on Belarus having a full-fledged participation in the bilateral track of this project,” Yelena Kupchina said.
