A journalist in Belarus has been sentenced to 10 days in jail for hooliganism.

Yauhen Skrabets was detained on May 17. He sent an SMS message to his colleagues to inform them about his arrest.

It is not clear why he was charged with hooliganism.

Last month, Skrabets was summoned by police and questioned regarding his collaboration with Radio Racija, a radio station that broadcasts in the Belarusian language from neighboring Poland.

Police told Skrabets that he needed an accreditation to be eligible to work for a foreign media outlet.
