The cooperation agreement was signed in the office of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP).

It was signed between the Minsk regional organisation of the Liberal Democratic Party and the Minsk regional organisation of the United Civil Party (UCP). The press service of the liberal democrats reports that signatures were put by heads of the regional party branches Aliaksandr Pilipchuk and Aliaksandr Valchanin.

“Yes, I put my signature under the agreement. I think the UCP regional branch should work with everybody,” Valchalin told BelaPAN,

He said UCP leader Anatol Liabedzka was informed about the agreement and his reaction was moderate.

Valchanin noted the agreement would be proposed for consideration of the council of the UCP Minsk regional organisation. “If they don't approve it, I will resign. I don't want to be an outcast. Different organisations should cooperate,” he said.

The Liberal Democratic Party is headed by Siarhei Haidukevich, Lukashenka's sparring partner in the 2001 and 2006 residential elections. His son Aleh, who had been the head of Minsk's Frunzenski district police department for a long time and was involved in torturing opposition activists, is a deputy chairman of the party.
