Lilia Ananich appointed as new information minister

President Lukashenka on June 30 signed an edict to appove Lilia Ananich as Information Minister of Belarus among other government appointments.

The appointment is confirmed by the official website of Aliaksandr Lukashenka. Ananich became the acting Minister of Information after the dismissal of Aleh Praliaskouski from this position in early June. Previously, she had served as Deputy Information Minister.

Lilia Ananich was born in 1960 in the village of Liavonava, Barysau district. She graduated from Journalism Faculty at Belarus State University in 1982 and from Public Administration Academy under the Presidebnt of Belarus in 2000.

In 1982-1984 she worked as a photo correspondent for the district newspaper Shliakh Kamunizmu (Communism Way). In 1984-1992 she worked as an editor and the editor-in-chief at the Automated Systems Research Institute in Minsk. In 1992-1996 she worked as a deputy head of media section at the Ministry of Culture and Press. From May 3, 1996 till November 2001, she worked as a deputy head and head of information and analytical department at the State Committee for the Press. Ananich worked as a deputy Minister of Information from November 2001 till November 2003.
