Belarusian Foreign Ministry spokesman Dzmitry Mironchyk refutes reports about the sales of military equipment to Iraq.

The Iraqi Prime Minister told BBC on Thursday that his country had bought several used fighter jets in Russia and Belarus. He also said the acquired planes would soon begin to fly over Iraq 'within several days'.

"Not a single contract about the supplies of armaments, or especially aircraft, that is pending to be implemented within the next several days, does not exist," Dzmitry Mironchyk told the Russian news agency RIA Novosti. However, he noted that the talks about military and technical cooperation between legitimate agencies in Belarus and Iraq may take place but "there have been no concrete agreements."

RIA Novosti reminds the comments by Igor Korotchenko, director of the Center Arme Trade Analysis, who said that Iraq might have bought six Russian fighter jets SU-30K that were overhauled in Belarus.
