Russians ready to expand its airbase in Belarus

The Russian air force is waiting for soon intergovernmental agreement signature in order to expand airbase in Baranovichi. The first Russian fighters Su-27 arrived at Belarus in December last year.

"We will create the airbase in Baranovichi, we have everything we need, the last thing we are waiting for is the signature of an intergovernmental agreement. After that we proceed at full scale"- said the agency ITAR TASS commander of the Russian Air Force Viktor Bondariev. According to his previous statements, by the end of the year there would be stationed 24 aircraft Su-27 in Belarus. The first four Russian planes flown into Baranovichy airfield in December 10, 2013 r.

In March this year another 15 machines arrived at Belarus. It was to be a response to the increased activity of NATO troops in Poland and the Baltic States.
