Uladzimir Makey will be on a working trip to Poland on 28-29 August, Spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Dzmitry Mironchyk told reporters on August, 28.
“While in Poland, Vladimir Makei will meet with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes Mr Mironchik as saying. Besides, a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister- Minister of Economy of Poland Janusz Piechocinski is also scheduled.
Belarus and Poland jointly address a number of issues within the framework of integration projects in Europe: the European Union and the Customs Union, Belarus being the member of the latter. “The Belarus-Poland working groups have recently intensified their efforts,” the press officer said. The first results of the visit might be unveiled in the evening of August, 28.
It is to be recalled that three high European officials arrived in the capital of Belarus to take part in the talks on Ukraine, which has not happened since 2010, when EU Commissioner for Expansion Štefan Füle came to Minsk on the peak of ‘political thawing.’ Amid the Ukrainian crisis Minsk apparently set its far-reaching goals. "EU top officials have the opportunity to visit Belarus without worrying about contacting with Europe's last dictator. This will be used for informal talks to continue the process of improving relations with the bloc," Andrey Yahorau, Director of the Centre for European Transformation, told Belsat TV.
