Myasnikovich: Belarus hopes to normalize relations with EU

Euroradio

Minsk hopes for the abolition of restrictions on capital movement.

On November 4, Prime Minister Mikhail Myasnikovich participated in the plenary session of the Belarusian-Lithuanian Economic Forum X in Mahilyou. In his view, the success of the Belarusian-Lithuanian cooperation is largely determined by normalization of the Belarusian-European relations. Fairly active dialogue with the EU has already been constructed, and there has been "a number of positive decisions from Brussels," the prime minister said.

"We hope that the next step will be the removal of restrictions on the movement of capital, and this will be a logical solution, Mikhail Myasnikovich was quoted by BELTA. "We have also discussed this issue at the Belarusian-American Investment Forum, recently held in New York. There is an understanding that we need to go on the way of removing all restrictions in the Belarusian financial and other institutions."

Myasnikovich is convinced that the European partners have realized that a policy of sanctions and ultimatums is "absolutely hopeless". And in this way it is "impossible to build a normal relationship."
