His ‘mass riots’ case has not been closed so far.

Ex-presidential candidate Ales Mihalevich who has retuned to Belarus after 4.5 years of emigration does not exclude that he may become a human rights defender, he announced at a press conference in Minsk on September 8.

He does not regret anything in his political career and he does not feel ashamed of his departure to the Czech Republic, Mihalevich said. However, he was sure that he would be arrested as soon as he arrived in Belarus, the politician claimed. He was surprised at his release on recognizance and did not sign the corresponding document.

Mihalevich is still a defendant in the criminal case of ‘December 19, 2010 mass riots’. He is facing from 5 to 15 years of imprisonment. The former political refugee is still a suspect, the Investigation Committee announced earlier. The investigator has already contacted Mihalevich, BelaPAN reports.
