Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) will not take into account the amendments to the Electoral Code, which were prepared by the experts and the subjects of democratic coalition.

This statement was made by the head of the OSCE Office in Minsk, Ambassador Hans-Johan Schmidt, during the meeting with the co-chairman of the United Democratic Forces (UDF) Anatoly Lebedko. "Mr. Schmidt said that the experts from the ODIHR and the Venice Commission would take into account only the proposals of the Belarusian authorities", — Anatoly Lebedko said.

According to the politician, "it seems illogical". "Election is a political process and the political parties participate in this process. Someone writes the rules for the parties, but does not take into account the suggestions of the political parties", — Anatoly Lebedko noted.

According to him the amendments to the Electoral Code were prepared by the United Democratic Forces in close cooperation with the experts, following the results of the election campaign, which was recognized by the OSCE undemocratic. "Our suggestions were sent to the ODIHR as the unified position of the opposition political structures of Belarus", — co-chairman of the UDF said.
