NATO has no reasons not to cooperate or terminate partnership with Belarus. The statement was made by Tanya Hartman during an international seminar "International Security and NATO in 2015", which took place in Minsk on Tuesday.
The NATO representative stressed that the international situation recently changed dramatically and many new challenges have arisen. "We are faced with challenges, including the treat of terrorist groups. We should modernize our responses and pay more attention to defense capabilities," BELTA quoted Hartman.
Latvian Ambassador to Belarus Martins Virsis noted that Latvia highly appreciates the role of Belarus in organizing security in the region. The Latvian Embassy, incidentally, is the NATO contact embassy in Belarus.
