Belarusian and Russian state leaders Alyaksandr Lukashenka and Vladimir Putin met in Sochi on the evening of February 5. They agreed that the two states would continue ‘strengthening bilateral cooperation in all spheres’. They discussed the meeting of the Higher Council of the Union State of Belarus and Russia appointed for February (it will be held in Minsk), BELTA reports.

“Let us take a day off and discuss topical issues: bilateral, regional issues and our joint integration efforts. We have things to discuss and we will be glad to meet you!” RIA Novosti quotes Putin.

Lukashenka thanked Putin for the invitation ‘to have a rest for a few days’. He also noted that he had met with Dmitri Medvedev (it turned out that it had been requested by Putin).
