Activists who protest against pig farms get fined in Maladzechna

Malazdechna District Court has fined two people who protested against the construction of pig farms in the district. Head of Barysau affiliate of the Belarusian Social-Democratic Party (Hramada) Ales Abramovich was fined for 40 base amounts (8.4 million roubles) and BCD coordinator in Minsk Province Pavel Prakapovich – for 30 base amounts (6.3 million roubles), the press service of the Belarusian Christian Democracy reports.

Activist of the ecological initiative Price of Life Pavel Syarhei was jailed for 7 days earlier.

The activists demanded to stop the construction of pig farms near the villages of Soulava and Palachany. The picket was held near Maladzechna District Executive Committee on May 12. The pig farms will worsen the ecological situation, the activists think.
