The Belarusian head of state Alexander Lukashenko celebrates his 62nd birthday on August 30, 2016.

Alexander Lukashenko does not usually arrange any big parties on this day. “Today the president has a usual workday schedule”, Natalia Eismont, spokesperson for the president, told TUT.BY.

The Belarusian leader may, however, celebrate tomorrow as his youngest son Nikolai was born on August 31 and turns 12 this year.

It is interesting that in 2010 some changes were made in the biography of Alexander Lukashenko posted on his official website: his date of birth was changed from 30 to 31 August 1954.

As the presidential administration explained to BelaPAN news agency at that time, the date was changed because Alexander Lukashenko’s mother arrived at hospital in the evening on August 30, but gave birth to her son after midnight.

“In the 50s in hospitals in rural areas no one bothered to note the exact birth time. So it was indicated that the baby was born on August 30, when the mother arrived. The president never paid attention to it until his youngest son Nikolay was born on August 31. After that the president talked to his mother and found out that he actually should celebrate on August 31.”

… and physical job.

Alexander Lukashenko first became president when he was 39. He won the election five times: on July 10, 1994, on September 9, 2001, on March 19, 2006, on December 19, 2010 and on October 11, 2015.

The Belarusian head of state enjoys physical exercise – he plays hockey, mows grass. In his residence there’s a garden where melons, watermelons, potatoes, carrots, and beets are grown and a mini-farm with goats, sheep, cows and birds.

“All fields in the residence are in perfect order, I mow grass to keep fit. Well, I own a farm – goats, sheep, cows, and so I also provide animals with food”, Alexander Lukashenko once said.
