Pro-democracy activists led by Youth Front leader Zmicier Dashkevich on November 7 attempted to disrupt the unveiling of the restored Lenin monument near the Minsk Tractor Plant. nn.by reports the three Young Front activists in the crowd began shouting "Shame!" during the unveiling. Communists began to shout "Peace, party, Komsomol!" in response.

The ceremony was attended by Minsk City Executive Committee Deputy Head and one of the Communist Party leaders Iahr Karpenka. After the incident, he was under protection of plainclothes security agents.

The police detained the protesters. Youth Front leader Zmicier Dashkevich was carried to a police van by four officers.

Euroradio reported earlier the Lenin monument had previously stood in the backyard of Minsk Tractor Plant. It was moved to the plant's main entrance on the October Revolution anniversary "at the request of veterans and Communists."
