‘Stay united!’ Lukashenka set to deepen cooperation with Venezuela’s Maduro
Belarusian president Alyaksandr Lukashenka reiterated his commitment to develop closer relations with Venezuela.

The Belarusian leader expressed his intention to visit Venezuela in the near future and ‘offer everything that we have today to help Venezuela achieve success’.

“We agreed to make a roadmap towards deepening our bilateral development against the unfolding background. Very soon, in 2018, during my visit to Venezuela, we will be able to advance our relations. We will not only endorse the roadmap, but we will start to put it into life,” Lukashenka told Venezuelan Vice President Ricardo Menendez on Tuesday.

At the same time, he failed to specify what items would be included in the roadmap.

According to him, there are some unresolved issues in Belarus-Venezuelarelations but one should not let them fend off their mutual cooperation.

“Today we have the things that you need – in its entirety. The things you are in sore need of. You also have the things we need. And we may even earn something on them. I think we should use it as a basis of our agreements and the roadmap,” he said.

The Belarusian president asked to convey the congratulations on the ‘convincing victory’ in the regional elections of the Venezuelan president’s supporters to Nicolas Maduro.

“The main thing that I highlighted in the meeting with Nicolas Maduro is that you should stay united in Venezuela and believe in your victory. Otherwise, our friend Hugo Chavez will never forgive us,” state-run news agency BelTA quotes Lukashenka.
