Russian PM Medvedev lambasts Belarus for ‘unfair competition’
Russia will look into the matter if Belarus continues to engage in unfair competition, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said during a visit to the Shcherbinsky Elevator Plant.

According to Medvedev, “competition is good.” At the same time, the Prime Minister noted that if the competition is unfair, then “this is a reason to look into it,” RIA Novosti reports.

“Any cooperation should be mutual, otherwise there is no reason for it. We have a single market. If we did not have a single market, then there would be no problems,” added Dmitry Medvedev.

At the elevator plant the Premier was informed that the main competitor of the Russian enterprise is the Mahiliou plant of elevator machinery, which has strong support from the Belarusian state.

According to Medvedev, the situation in the construction machinery market must comply with general economic rules in order to avoid dumping by foreign competitors. Direct support and dumping are contrary to the rules of the World Trade Organization, he pointed out.
