Not a single Belarusian official will ever sign any documents that may do harm to the country, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said during Thursday’s address to MPs when commenting on Belarus-Russia relations.

Making his speech in the Independence Palace in Minsk, the head of state said that Belarus was ready for meaningful cooperation with Russia, but it should be developed on an egalitarian basis.

“We never intended to and now there is no such intention to become part of any state, even our brotherly Russia,” Lukashenka stressed.

Moreover, the parties are not engaged in a dialogue on political issues such as the establishment of a single parliament.

As reported earlier, Vladimir Putin and Alyaksandr Lukashenka are expected to have talks on December, 7 in Sochi. Moreover, the meeting of Belarusian Prime Minister Syarhei Rumas and his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev is to take place a day earlier. The two events are about to take place in the run-up to the much-talked-about signing a new agreement on deepening Belarus-Russia integration which was announced to happen by December, 8.

Last week, Belarusian Ambassador to Russia Uladzimir Syamashka said that the prime ministers had agreed on 20 integration road maps out of 31. At the same time, it is necessary to consider the issues that can only be resolved by the leaders of the countries. In particular, the gas prices next year, as well as the energy maps have not been agreed upon.

Syamashka also said that Lukashenka and Putin had agreed to create a common government and parliament. Later, Moscow said that the ambassador’s words did not correspond to reality and were allegedly taken out of context.
