In a telephone conversation with Armenian President Armen Sarkissian, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said that Belarus had not sent any military loadings to Azerbaijan or Armenia in the past six months, staterun TV station ONT reports.

Lukashenka was set to reassure his Armenian counterpart that previous reports about Belarus’ recently delivering a military cargo to Azerbaijan were improper.

“A clear response to the fake information was given during the talk,” Lukashenka stressed.

In June 2018, Belarus sold 10 Polonezes (the latest multiple launch rocket system) to Azerbaijan, which caused great dissatisfaction of Armenia. It should be noted that Armenia and Belarus are allies within the Collective Security Treaty Organisation (CSTO).

“We regret that Belarus, our friendly country that is involved in multilateral formats along with us and has an ally’s duties, sells weapons to the state that is hostile to us,” the Armenian side said.

The decades-old conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh escalated on September 27, when Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of opening fire.
