The United States extended the suspension of sanctions against the enterprises Polotsksteklovolokno and Lakokraska till November 30, 2010, the press service of the U.S. Embassy in Belarus reported.
Other relevant U.S. sanctions remain in force.
"Unfortunately, recent events, including last week’s raids against non-governmental organisations, show that actions of the Belarusian authorities concerning the respect for fundamental freedoms continue to be negative", it is said in a press release of the Embassy. "Improvements in US-Belarusian relations are possible only if there is real progress in the field of democracy and respect for fundamental human rights. This situation will be taken into account when deciding on further suspension of the sanctions in November."
