The Foreign Ministry of Bulgaria flatly denies reports of Rzeczpospolita, a Polish daily, that at the meeting with A. Lukashenka Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolai Mladenov offered 2 bn euros for release of political prisoners.

"We strongly refute this information. Such a proposal had not been made", Vesela Cherneva, spokesperson of the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry, said to BelaPAN.

On September 10 Rzeczpospolita referring to a source in the Polish MFA informed that at the meeting with A. Lukashenka Bulgarian Foreign Minister Nikolai Mladenov was to offer the Belarusian leader renewal of relations with the EU and 2 bn euros for release of all political prisoners before the end of the year.

The newspaper also claimed that the initiative to make public secret arrangements between Lukashenka and Mladenov had been offered by Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski to prevent the delay in fulfilling promises to release political prisoners by the Belarusian party.
