The oppositionist was attacked by three unidentified people on the eve of an action of solidarity with a political prisoner Mikalaj Statkievich.

The charter97.org web-site learnt about the incident from an opposition activist Jauhien Parchynski from Polatsk.

Jauhien Parchynski: On Mikalaj Statkievich’s birthday, 12 August, we were going to hang out a banner saying 'Freedom to Statkievich' in Polatsk. As I was going out of the house I got attacked by three people, who grabbed me and dragged to a car. They hit me on the body and the head, but thanks to the neighbors I managed to escape.

We would remind that beatings and kidnappings of opposition activists by unidentified people in mufti are not rare.

Very recently the leader of Babrujsk entrepreneurs Viachaslau Shelieh's daughter was beaten and taken into the woods. In several days after that the entrepreneur himself was beaten by a policeman in mufti near the building of Babrujsk executive committee's police department.
